About the question of how long does fishing line last? For me, it depends on how you take care of it or maybe how you use it. When it comes to fishing, your fishing tools are your main partner.

So, you will be the one responsible for it. I love fishing, and catching a fish is a feeling of great achievement I have a day. But I never had an idea about any kinds of fishing line before as well as how to care for it.

For me, as long as I have a line, I don’t care about the name, I just go fishing because I wanted to fish. But I think I did the right thing of keeping my tools in my room after using it.

How Long Does Fishing Line Last?

There are many kinds of fishing line in the market. Different kinds of different strategies and styles to use. As we proceed below, we are going to tackle about this top four best quality fishing lines that are already out on the market today.

1. Monofilament

Next to Braided line, is the Monofilament line that has many ideal properties that are not present in the braided line.

Characteristics of the Monofilament
  • Monofilament consists of only a single strand which makes it very light. And because of its lightness, it is easy to throw and sink into the water deeper and deeper.
  • Monofilament knot is also high that even after a whole hard day of using it is still easy to tight. It is also elastic even under massive bass without breakage.
  • Monofilament also has a weakness, because of its elasticity, you put forcefully on pulling when you something on your bait. And light touches is even harder to feel. Due to this, it is expected that if you are using this line, you need to replace it yearly.

2. Fluorocarbon

Fluorocarbon has been released in the market earlier than the monofilament lines. This line also has excellent properties that monofilament does not have.

Fluorocarbon Fishing Line
Characteristics of Fluorocarbon
  • Fluorocarbon line is more substantial than the monofilament lines. Its buoyancy is an advantage, as it can sink faster compared to monofilament. It has bigger chance to catch more fish because it sinks faster.
  • Fluorocarbon is transparent which in return is unnoticeable to the bass below.
  • Fluorocarbon is stronger and can set its hook faster.
  • gift
Fluorocarbon also has the weakness. It has the weaker strength on its knots than monofilament which is also a bit expensive.

3. Braided

Among all these lines, braided was the first fishing line released in the market.

Characteristics of a Braided line
  • It was made of many lines woven together that gives its powerful strength compared to the others who only have single strands.
  • It is also composed of artificial materials, and if those lines above were to be combined, it would result in the Braided line.
  • It has less elasticity owing to being tied together. It is also termed as the “superline.”
  • gift
Like the other lines, Braided also has its drawback. This line is very visible when placed underwater, and it needs to have special care because it has its slippery knots like the fluorocarbon.

4. Nanofil

Among all these lines, braided was the first fishing line released in the market. I would also want to introduce this newest line that comes out of the market today which is called the Nanofil line. I am also new to this line, so together let’s discover the characteristic of this newcomer.

Characteristic of Nanofil

Nanofil has similar strength as the Braided line. So this means it is also stronger, but it is only made to have a single line just like monofilament.

  • It has less elasticity owing to being tied together. It is also termed as the “superline.”
